Why HBCT
There are many reasons HypnoBirthing of CT has become the leading provider of independent childbirth education in the region, including:
Instructor Reputation: Cynthia Overgard, founder of HypnoBirthing of Connecticut, has been featured in numerous publications internationally and is a recognized “expert in HypnoBirthing education,” according to the International Maternity Institute. Her passion, charisma and effective teaching style have drawn more than 450 couples from a 90 mile radius to her Westport classes in just five years.
Class Environment: “Home” is the key word at HypnoBirthing of Connecticut, because your emotional and physical comfort sets the perfect stage for learning and applying the relaxation tools for giving birth. Our professionally-designed home studio, with its custom Pottery Barn furniture and organic homemade foods provide couples a nurturing environment with a relaxed, social feel.
Beyond HypnoBirthing: Couples consistently report that they obtained far more than they ever imagined from a childbirth education class. This is because Cynthia is well-informed beyond her professional credentials and shares extremely valuable birthing advice she obtained from her one-on-one time with our country’s most experienced and renowned midwives, including Ina May Gaskin and Nancy Wainer. Do you know the birthing position that widens your pelvis by 30%? Or how overconsumption of dairy can complicate birthing and affect fetal positioning? You will complete this course feeling well-prepared to make informed decisions throughout your pregnancy and birth.
Parent Community: The last thing you think you need as a soon-to-be mom could be what you’ll end up cherishing the most: a caring, educated community of other new moms who share your interest in conscious birthing and parenting. Our couples have formed a strong network of support for one another that has resulted in genuine and lasting friendships. From the moment you register for class, we can frequently put you in touch with other women who birthed with your midwife or OB so you can obtain first-hand feedback on how well those practitioners supported them in their wishes for a calm, uneventful birth. Our monthly Birth Story Gatherings and quarterly Breastfeeding Workshops are particularly wonderful opportunities for connecting with women outside of class.
Professional Network: Through Cynthia, you will have direct access to a network of several dozen qualified practitioners who support women through pregnancy and childbirth. This includes prenatal chiropractors, pediatricians of varying philosophies, prenatal acupuncturists and massage therapists, birth and postpartum doulas, prenatal yoga instructors, obstetricians
and midwives.
Just for Fun:
- You will be invited to a champagne brunch in a private room of an award-winning local restaurant whenever you refer a friend to us.
- We are the only non-retail provider of the Birthing Gown. You no longer need to travel to a boutique in Manhattan for these lovely garments for childbirth and breastfeeding.
- You will also have unlimited access to more than 200 prenatal and birthing resources (journals, books and DVDs). It’s just one small way we support your education in between classes and long after the course is over.
Unlimited Support: There is no limit to the support you’ll receive through pregnancy and birth. Cynthia makes herself highly accessible and provides her couples with many ways of reaching her for emotional guidance and support even after they have completed the course.
